CRiCS PhD Scholarship in Financial Modelling


Scholarship Description

A PhD scholarship is available for studying the use of information theory in financial markets, building on the work by Harre and Bossomaier in Europhysics Letters (Phase-transition-behaviour of information measures in financial markets). The project will involve developing theoretical and simulation models of information flow in stock markets, making extensive use of real data. The student would need a quantitative degree, with strong programming and data analysis skills.

Availability

This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from August 10, 2012 until November 30, 2012.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD23728 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Computation theory and mathematics. It is required that your study starts no earlier than September 1, 2012 and no later than February 1, 2013.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent.
