MQ Physics & Astronomy- High power linewidth-narrowed diamond Raman lasers

Scholarship Description
A full-time PhD Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES) is available in the Department of Physics & Astronomy associated with successful AOARD Grant 9201200206 for a suitably qualified applicant. In this project, the gain spectra as a function of pump spectral and polarization properties will be investigated for a continuous-wave diamond Raman laser system. The results will improve our understanding of Raman devices such as high power diamond lasers, tunable narrow-linewidth lasers, beam combiners and low-threshold waveguide lasers. The project will apply the results in one or more of these systems. Initial inquiries should be directed to A.Prof. Richard Mildren. Refer to http://www.hdr.mq.edu.au/information_about/applications for application instructions and quote allocation number 2012177 on your application.
