QUT Postgraduate Research Awards


Scholarship Description

The stipend for 2009 is $20,427 per annum tax exempt and is indexed annually. QUTPRAs also provide some relocation costs and thesis allowances to eligible studetns. Research Masters and Professional Doctorate and PhD candidates are eligible to apply. QUTPRAs are awarded to high achieving applicants who hold an honours degree or honours equivalence of 2A or above. These awards are not transferable to other institutions. For domestic students, these awards also guarantee a HECS tution fee exempt place under the Commonwealth's Research Training Scheme for up to four years for PhD study and Research Doctorate, or up to two years for a Research Masters degree. For international students, these awards also guarantee a tuition fee waiver for up to four years for PhD study and Research Doctorate, or up to two years for a Research Masters degree.

This scholarship is offered annually to 41 people. Open for applications from September 1, 2009 until October 9, 2009.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD20427 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 2 years if masters or 3 years if PhD.

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: ARCHITECTURE, URBAN ENVIRONMENT AND BUILDING, BEHAVIOURAL AND COGNITIVE SCIENCES, BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, CHEMICAL SCIENCES, COMMERCE, MANAGEMENT, TOURISM AND SERVICES, EARTH SCIENCES, ECONOMICS, EDUCATION, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, INFORMATION, COMPUTING AND COMMUNICATION SCIENCES, JOURNALISM, LIBRARIANSHIP AND CURATORIAL STUDIES, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, LAW, JUSTICE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT, MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES, MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES, PHYSICAL SCIENCES, SCIENCE - GENERAL, SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL, STUDIES IN HUMAN SOCIETY or THE ARTS. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2010 and no later than March 19, 2010.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent.
