UQ PhD Scholarship in Civil Eng

Scholarship Description

Dispersion of matter in natural river systems is important in terms of transport of nutrients and toxicants into ecosystems. The project aims to improve basic understanding of turbulent mixing and influence of anthropogenic releases in small subtropical estuaries. This will be a PhD research project integrating basic water engineering and environmental sciences. The project is part of a cross-institutional multidisciplinary research effort involving Queensland DERM (Water Quality & Aquatic Ecosystem Health) and the School of Civil Engineering (UQ). Additional top-up and tutorial assistance may be available to complement the stipend. Applications are sought from honours graduates in engineering or science, although preference is given to first class honours. The suitable candidate will have a solid background in hydraulic engineering, possibly field experience. The project must start before July 2012. Information may be obtained from and application must be sent to Prof. H. Chanson
