Smart Grid Communications

Scholarship Description
A Ph.D. scholarship is available within the School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science to work on the Smart Grid Communications research project. The successful student will work on one of two projects; the development of a LTE (Long Term Evolution) based wide area wireless control network for a smart grid, or modelling control and communication aspects of a Smart grid. The student will work in a group which is comprised of Academics, Industrial Researchers and Postgraduate students. The project is industry based; hence the focus of the project is more applied and targeted. The scholarships are offered for 3 years initially, with the possibility of extension to 4 years. The scholarship includes a stipend at the APAI priority rate ($27651 in 2011).

Availability
This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from January 1, 2012 until April 1, 2012.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD27651 (minimum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses and fees. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, INFORMATION, COMPUTING AND COMMUNICATION SCIENCES or SCIENCE - GENERAL. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2012 and no later than August 31, 2012.
Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 2a or equivalent.
