Scholarship Description

We are looking for an individual with research interests in climate change education in relation to understanding how individuals and/or communities learn to live with change & uncertainty & develop adaptive capacity & resilience to the consequences of climate change. The focus of the study could be any sector of education, although there is preference for research on young people’s engagement with climate change and sustainability issues in &/or outside school, or the role of schools in responding to this educational challenge without creating despair or engendering false hope. Education & social learning have assumed a central role in the research agenda & teaching program at JCU with the School of Education designating education for environmental sustainability & social justice/equity as its two key curriculum & research foci. This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from September 9, 2010 until October 31, 2010.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD22500 (per annum). This award is to be used for research and living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 2 years if masters or 3 years if PhD.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: EDUCATION or SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2011 and no later than June 30, 2011.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 2a or equivalent.
