Scholarship Description
Field of Study: Understanding the role of innate barrier function in the development and maintenance of a healthy intestinal environment in chickens through the following aims: 1. To characterise the extent to which structural and functional changes in the intestinal barrier influence broiler performance 2. To identify how key dietary and microbial factors influence in vivo mucin dynamics and production of different mucin subtypes 3. To develop and optimise in vivo and ex vivo assays to study mucosal-bacterial interactions

This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from August 12, 2010 until February 1, 2011.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD30000 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or AUS permanent resident can apply.
