Scholarship Description
*** 2010 Commencement *** Macquarie University is seeking to award an additional 40 domestic Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES) for eligible, new PhD candidates! These scholarships aim to support exceptional students to undertake PhD research in their area of choice (where supervision is available) and especially in one of the University's Concentrations Of Research Excellence (CORE) areas. The scholarships are competitively awarded on the basis of academic merit, research capacity and experience. The scholarship offers a living allowance, and domestic students are funded for tuition under the RTS scheme. Interested students should discuss their project proposal with their potential supervisor prior to applying for this award. Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD22500 (per annum). This award is to be used for research, living expenses and fees. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: AGRICULTURAL, VETERINARY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES, BEHAVIOURAL AND COGNITIVE SCIENCES, BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, CHEMICAL SCIENCES, COMMERCE, MANAGEMENT, TOURISM AND SERVICES, EARTH SCIENCES, EDUCATION, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY, INFORMATION, COMPUTING AND COMMUNICATION SCIENCES, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, LAW, JUSTICE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT, MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES, MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES, PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION, PHYSICAL SCIENCES, POLICY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE, SCIENCE - GENERAL, SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL, STUDIES IN HUMAN SOCIETY or THE ARTS. It is required that your study starts no later than December 23, 2010.
Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or New Zealand or AUS permanent resident can apply.
