Nanoparticles for Cancer Treatment

Scholarship Description

A post-graduate scholarship is available at the St.George Hospital (Dr Paul de Souza,http://www.prostatesydney.com.au/paul_de_souza.html) in the UNSW School of Medicine in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Macromolecular Design (CAMD) (A/Prof Martina Stenzel, http://www.camd.unsw.edu.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=129&Itemid=58) in the Faculty of Engineering. We are seeking an enthusiastic PhD candidate with either a medical, biomedical or another equivalent science background to work on the biological evaluation of the nanoparticles prepared at CAMD. The nanoparticles are loaded with Pt drugs and the main focus of the work is the investigation of the effect of these particles on different cancer cell lines. Aim will be the delivery of these nanoparticles to specific malignant cells. The student will work in a highly multi-disciplinary team of polymer chemist, biochemists and medical scientists.
