Problem Gambling and Family Violence in Help-Seeking Populations: Prevalence, Impact and Coping

Scholarship Description
This study has been funded as a Linkage Project under the Australian Research Council’s National Competitive Grants Program (Grant number LP 0989331), and is due to commence in April 2010. The study primarily aims to: 1) Systematically establish the prevalence of the co-occurrence of problem gambling and family violence in a range of help-seeking populations across Australia, Hong Kong and New Zealand and to determine the way in which the co-morbid conditions of problematic alcohol and drug use and psychological symptoms co-vary with problem gambling and family violence; 2) Determine the impacts of problem gambling and family violence on gambling-related family impacts and the way in which the co-morbid conditions affect these family impacts; and 3) Determine the impacts of problem gambling and family violence on gambling-related coping strategies of family members.

Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD27222 (per annum). This award is to be used for research and living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 2 years if masters or 3 years if PhD.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: BEHAVIOURAL AND COGNITIVE SCIENCES. It is required that your study starts no earlier than April 1, 2010 and no later than April 1, 2013.
