APA Scholarship - School of Animal Studies
Scholarship Description
The School of Animal Studies is one of Australia’s leading schools in animal research. Research in wildlife management is a significant research area with separate interests in conservation and reproductive biology, game and vertebrate pest management and human-wildlife interactions. The primary research disciplines active across these areas are ecology, health and welfare, nutrition, and reproductive physiology. Students living in Gatton enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle, easy access to Brisbane and coastal areas, affordable accommodation, and convenient public transport. Despite being both a valuable asset and a declared pest little is known about the ecology of wild red deer in Queensland. A three year collaborative project between The University of Queensland, local and state government departments and non-government organisations begins in July 2009 to address this knowledge gap.
