2009 Family Action Centre "Fathers & Families Program" PhD Scholarship

Scholarship Description
The Family Action Centre has established the Fathers and Families Research Program to conduct research into the role of fathers and family wellbeing. A particular focus of the Program is the parenting capacity of fathers and father figures, in non-Indigenous & Indigenous community contexts. Having received international recognition, the Program has 7, 3-year research projects investigating aspects of father-child and mother-child connection, parenting stress and support and parenting after separation. The Program has formed partnerships with leading researchers from several Australian universities and also across disciplines within the University of Newcastle.The Family Action Centre is offering a 3-year PhD scholarship, including a living allowance, funding provisions for research expenses and funding for an additional six months to enable completion. The successful applicant will examine the use of parenting capacity measures with fathers in clinical and family-service contexts.

Availability
This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from January 1, 2008 until October 31, 2008.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for research and living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of up to 3 and a half years.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES or Public health and health services. It is required that your study starts no earlier than December 31, 2008.
Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or permanent residents can apply.
