Scholarship Description

The School for Social and Policy Research at Charles Darwin University delivers basic & applied research about social and economic issues affecting northern and remote Australia. We have a dedicated team of research staff and students in the fields of population studies, gambling, education, childhood wellbeing and regional development. Applications are invited for PhD candidates to commence with the School in Darwin and Alice Springs in 2009. Topics of Interest:• Regional and/or economic development in remote Australia • Indigenous tourism development • Indigenous education reform • Middle school education • Social policy as a cultural process • Indigenous families and the demands of schooling • Social geography of gambling venues • Gambling and new/emerging technologies • Historical demography of Indigenous populations • Workforce planning in the Northern Territory • Parenting, early learning, and child wellbeing

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: EDUCATION, POLICY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE or SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2009.
