ARC Linkage studentship

Scholarship Description

Two ARC funded PhD studentships are available in the group of David Edwards at the University of Queensland. The first studentship is to develop and apply computational/statistical tools for the assembly and analysis of 'next generation' genome sequencing data. The second studentship is to develop and apply computational/statistical tools for analysis of genome sequence diversity. The students will work with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to advance our understanding of complex genomes and receive training in genomics, software development, statistics and bioinformatics. Applicants may have a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, statistics or biology with experience in software development and an understanding of biology. Availability

This scholarship is offered once only to 2 people. Open for applications from July 14, 2008 until August 15, 2008.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD26000 (per annum). This award is to be used for research, living expenses and fees. This scholarship is paid annually for the period of 3 years.

Eligibility

This scholarship requires you to have achieved Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or permanent residents can apply.
