PhD Stipend Scholarship
Scholarship Description
A PhD scholarship is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Brett Collins at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland, Brisbane (Australia). The successful applicant will join a team using multidisciplinary approaches to study intracellular membrane trafficking in the human cell. The student will use X-ray crystallography to determine structures of membrane coat proteins, biochemical and biophysical methods to probe protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions and cell biology experiments to study protein localisation in vivo. Students with skills in molecular biology, protein chemistry or cell biology but with an interest in structural biology are encouraged to apply. The position offered is part of an ARC Discovery Project Grant “From structures to systems: A hierarchical approach to understanding sub-cellular components” awarded to Dr. Collins and Prof. Alan Mark (School of Molecular and Microbial Sciences). Availability
This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from June 27, 2008 until August 31, 2008.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, CHEMICAL SCIENCES or SCIENCE - GENERAL. It is required that your study starts no earlier than August 1, 2008 and no later than December 1, 2008.
Eligibility
This scholarship requires you to have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Masters or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
