PhD Scholarship (APA, MGS and MIPRS)
Scholarship Description
A robotic parallel manipulator has multiple kinematic chains connecting a fixed base and a moving end-effector. The end-effector achieves mobility upon several actuators installed on the base, or close to the base. Advantages of parallel manipulators: high stiffness, precision and speed. Two well-known parallel manipulators are the Stewart platform and the Delta robot. The project aims at developing an innovative 6-dof parallel manipulator, which will have a simple structure, and can achieve very high acceleration. Potential applications would be a motion simulator, full-dof force feedback haptic device, robotic surgery robot etc. Project will include mechatronic design, system modelling (kinematics and dynamics) and control system design. Research field: mechatronics and robotics.
