Scholarship Description
The School of Environmental and Rural Science, is seeking a PhD candidate to undertake research that links riparian and catchment restoration to stream water quantity and biogeochemistry in agricultural landscapes. The successful candidate will use field surveys and experiments to identify the spatial extent and influence of riparian restoration on nutrient dynamics in several rivers in the northern Murray-Darling Basin. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong background in aquatic ecology or chemistry. A background in water quality and chemistry would also be advantageous. The successful candidate hold an Australian driver’s licence, and be willing to undertake field work in remote areas. This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from June 6, 2008 until July 2, 2008.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or permanent residents can apply.
