MQRES Lab-on-a-chip Microbiology PhD Scholarship

Scholarship Description

A PhD scholarship is available in Division of Information and Communication Sciences for a project on design and fabrication of novel microfluidic devices (Lab-on-a-chip) for concentrating and separating microbes, allowing for faster and earlier detection of dangerous organisms in fluids ranging from drinking water to blood. Fabrication will be done using an in-house semiconductor fabrication facility, and characterization will be done using facilities in the biology department. The skills gained in this project will be valuable in the field of biotechnology. MQRES scholarships are available to domestic and international students. Applicants should have an Australian first class honours degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Biology) or (Masters Degree with thesis). Early career professionals interested in returning to higher degree studies are also encouraged to apply. International awardees will receive tuition fees for the scholarship tenure.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
