Scholarship Description

A study of the effects of severe plastic deformation by Equal Channel Angular Processing (ECAP) on the crystallographic anisotropy and the resulting relationships between microstructure and properties. Approach: 1. Perform ECAP of aluminium alloys supplied by The Boeing Company; 2. Evaluate microstructure, mechanical properties (static, fatigue, fracture), and corrosion properties; 3. Evaluate microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion properties of friction welded joints of above materials; and 4. provide recommendations on chemistry and processing. Graduates in other engineering or science disciplines with a strong interest in structure and processing of materials may also be considered.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD25118 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of up to 3 and a half years.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or New Zealand or permanent residents can apply.
