Postgraduate Scholarships in the synchrotron sciences and supporting platform technologies
Scholarship Description
The Monash Centre for Synchrotron Science (MCSS) invites applicants for postgrad study leading to a PhD, to be undertaken at Monash. MCSS is a cross faculty entity under the portfolio of the DVC Research, which fosters synchrotron related research across the university. Successul candidates will undertake projects involving significant use of a synchrotron technique or the development of supporting platform technologies, and will be enrolled through an appropriate academic unit. The MCSS, through and in collaboration with School of Physics, is a major contributor to the CRC in Biomedical Imaging Development and the ARC Centre in Excellence on Coherent X-ray Science. Applicants should have a strong background in physical, biological/biomedical sciences, maths or engineering disciplines and completed a 4-year undergrad degree at H1 level.

Availability
This scholarship is offered annually to 5 people. Open for applications from August 27, 2008 until September 30, 2008.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD28000 (total may vary). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 2 years if masters or 3 years if PhD.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, Mathematics or PHYSICAL SCIENCES.
Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. permanent residents can apply.
