Scholarship Description
Up to two PhD scholarship candidates are sought as part of a 3 year research project on imprisonment and penal culture in Australia. The opportunity to be an important part of the research team on this project will suit an applicant with an interest in researching the changes in penal culture over the last 25 years that have led to a re-emergence of imprisonment as a frontline criminal justice strategy. The scholarship is for three years of full-time study. The scholarship has a tax-free stipend of approx $20,000 per annum (the APA rate was $19,616 in 2007). It is available from first session, 2008. Applicants need to be Australian citizens or permanent residents and to hold an undergraduate degree with Honours or equivalent. The value of this scholarship is AUD19616 (per annum). This award is to be used for research. This scholarship is paid annually for the period of 3 years.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: LAW, JUSTICE AND LAW ENFORCEMENT, POLICY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE, SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL or STUDIES IN HUMAN SOCIETY. It is required that your study starts no earlier than March 10, 2008 and no later than December 31, 2010.
