MQRES Modern History of Australian Media PhD Scholarship
Scholarship Description
A MQRES PhD scholarship is available in the Department of Modern History on the ARC-funded research project: ‘From Print to the Internet: The Media in Australia since 1803’. Applicants may have an interest in any aspect of Australian media history. Possible areas of inquiry include the history of: the suburban press in Sydney and Melbourne; the university student media; the media in twentieth-century Victoria; and the Herald & Weekly Times. The candidate will also contribute related material to A Companion to the Australian Media, the project’s centrepiece, and be affiliated with the University’s Centre for Media History. Applicants should have completed an Australian four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Modern History, Journalism, Media, Communications or Politics) with first class honours, or equivalent. International awardees will have tuition fees and health cover sponsored.

Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Journalism, communication and media, POLICY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE or SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL.
Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
