MQRES PhD in Computing / Internet Banking Security

Scholarship Description

A PhD MQRES scholarship is available in the Macquarie University Department of Computing to develop an automated, real-time monitoring defence against phishing used by criminals against internet banking users and assist in gathering evidence to prosecute criminal networks. The topics include developing an investigative methodology for characterizing the modus operandi of phishers; investigating a technology to gather, store and distribute intelligence on phishing and the multi-lingual marketplace of credentials in real-time; using natural language processing methods to characterise and identify the texts used in phishing; or creating a technology that provides counter-measures to botnet intrusion attacks. Applicants must have Australian first class honours degree in Computer Science or/and Mathematics or equivalent and have strong programming skills. Tuition fees and overseas health cover costs will also be sponsored for international students.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
