ELS MQRES Molecular Ecology of Cryptosporidium PhD Scholarship

Scholarship Description

A PhD scholarship is available to Australian and international students at the Division of Environmental and Life Sciences. In partnership with NSW Health the project will identify the risk factors associated with on-going transmission of cryptosporidiosis in regional areas. A multi-disciplinary approach encompassing epidemiology, molecular biology and climatology will provide comprehensive knowledge of Cryptosporidium transmission cycles in humans in Australia. Applicants should have an Australian four-year undergraduate degree with first class honours, or equivalent research qualifications from an Australian or overseas University. Candidates should have a background in microbiology, parasitology, molecular biology or epidemiology, and having the availability to undertake the required fieldwork for this project is essential. International students will receive tuition and compulsory health cover for the scholarship tenure.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD20007 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
