PhD Studentship Nan-Bio fibres

Scholarship Description

A PhD position is available to work in a collaboration between CSIRO Textile and Fibre Technology and Deakin University. The student will be enrolled at Deakin University, and will work at both CSIRO TFT (Belmont site) and Deakin University under supervision. The PhD student will work in the multidisciplinary field of nano-bio fibres, investigating the extraction and formation into useful structures of nanofibres of biological origin (for example from collagen, keratin, muscle, elastin, and fibrin) such as intermediate filaments and protein nanotubes. Of particular interest is the use of these bio-nano fibres in tissue engineering scaffolds. The student will work on the extraction and formation of these materials and characterise their properties for biomedical applications.
