PhD Scholarships - Hydraulic Engineering

Scholarship Description

The optimum design of stepped spillway & energy dissipation systems can provide an economical solution for additional water resources & more efficient water distribution systems. Applications range from rural to large water systems including urban drainage networks. Their turbulence characteristics & energy dissipation performances are critical issues that are poorly understood. This project aims to gain new expert knowledge & to develop new radical design guidelines for the design of energy dissipators used for spillway, water supply & drainage systems. This will be achieved through 2 PhD research projects integrating fundamental hydrodynamics & hydraulic engineering. Value is $25000pa(tax free) plus tutorial assistance (about $7000 pa).Applications sought from H1/H2a graduates in engineering & science (applied maths), with a solid background in fluid mechanics & hydraulic engineering, possibly some laboratory experience.
