Flinders Centre for Cancer Prevention and Control PhD Top-Up Scholarships

Scholarship Description

Two PhD top-up scholarships are available for students undertaking a cancer-related project supervised by a member of the FCCPC. Recipients must have received an APA or University Scholarship. Current areas of research activity within the FCCPC include: microRNAs in control of cancer development and progression; Identification and application of biomarkers for pre-malignant lesions in gastrointestinal cancers; Development of improved diagnostic tests for cancer and pre-cancer lesions, especially in colorectal and oesophageal cancers; Development of cancer prevention and risk-reduction strategies based on dietary and lifestyle factors and behavioural factors; Resistant starch, probiotics and other dietary interventions for cancer prevention; Effects of low-level radiation; Health data integration and decision support tools; Psychosocial factors in cancer care; Clinical trials of new cancer treatments (range of cancer types and sites)

This scholarship is offered dependent on funds to 2 people. Open for applications until October 31, 2008.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD10000 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses and fees. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2009 and no later than March 31, 2009.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or New Zealand or permanent residents can apply.
