APAI PhD in Grid Computing

Scholarship Description

A prestigious APAI_IT PhD scholarship is currently available in an exciting collaborative project between the Platform (TM) Computing and the Computer Science Department at the Australian National University. Platform Computing is a world leading international company in grid-enabling products targeted towards the financial services industry. The project focusses on enabling High Performance Numerical Computing on Service-Oriented Architectures (computational grids). Areas to be investigated include developing programming models (e.g. OpenMP) and tools, application characterization and performance modelling, and optimization of such applications to run efficiently on an underlying Service-Oriented Architecture infrastructure. The successful scholar will join a small team. There are also internship and travel opportunities with Platform Computing. This scholarship has closed for 2008. 2009 details will be updated later in the year.

Availability

This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from November 4, 2007 until March 15, 2008.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD24650 (per annum). This award is to be used for accommodation and living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: INFORMATION, COMPUTING AND COMMUNICATION SCIENCES. It is required that your study starts no earlier than November 15, 2007 and no later than March 30, 2008.

Eligibility

This scholarship requires you to have achieved Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia or New Zealand or permanent residents can apply.
