BIAA Research Scholarship

Scholarship Description

Applications are invited for a Research Scholarship tenable for 9 months from October 2007 and based at the Institute in Ankara. Applications are invited from candidates who should normally have completed a Masters degree, or be about to do so, and who intend to go on to conduct research at doctoral level. Applicants must be of British/Commonwealth nationality or normally resident in the UK. The Research Scholar will combine working on the electronic records of the BIAA archives and research collections, and conducting their own research. The subject of the proposed research should focus on Turkey and/or the Black Sea littoral and may fall within any of the academic disciplines of the arts, humanities and social sciences. The salary will be 800 per month. The BIAA will pay the cost of one return flight between the UK and Turkey. This scholarship has closed for 2008. Details for 2009 will be updated later in the year.

This scholarship is offered annually to one person. Open for applications from July 11, 2007 until February 1, 2008.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is GBP800 (maximum per month). This award is to be used for living expenses and travel. This scholarship is paid monthly.

Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, SOCIAL SCIENCES, HUMANITIES AND ARTS - GENERAL or STUDIES IN HUMAN SOCIETY. It is required that your study starts no earlier than October 1, 2008.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for study in Turkey for those who have achieved Masters or equivalent. Only citizens of commonwealth countries or United Kingdom may apply.
