Rex Cramphorn Theatre Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The scholarship commemorates one of the most important theatre practitioners to emerge from the renaissance of Australian theatre in the 1960s and 1970s. The work of Rex Cramphorn (1941-1991) ranged from the experimental to the classical, and was especially marked by his total commitment to the idea of artists working together, sharing and developing skills. Applicants will have completed a body of work that suggests an inquiring mind and an original theatrical voice, and should be able to demonstrate how the proposed program would assist them to develop a vision for future theatre practice. The scholarship program may be undertaken in Australia or overseas, but the successful applicant will be expected to return to NSW and should provide evidence of how the State would benefit from the proposed program. Please see website for details. The next award will be made in 2009 - details will be available later in the year.
