Scholarship Description
Three PhD scholarships are available in the NH&MRC Centre for Clinical Eye Research, Department of Ophthalmology. The Centre is involved in clinical research in the major blinding diseases - cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and corneal disease. The Centre's core research faculty members have expertise in clinical trials, optics and aberrations, patient-centred health measurement, predicting surgical outcomes, molecular genetics, population health research, remote health care, research translation, alternative pathways to clinical care and biostatistics. The specific focus of the candidates PhD will be determined by their interests and academic background. Applicants can come from diverse fields such as psychology, biotechnology or medicine.

This scholarship is offered once only to 2 people. Open for applications until October 31, 2008.
Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD29753 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses and fees. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 2 years if masters or 3 years if PhD.
Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 1, 2009 and no later than March 31, 2009.
Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent. Only citizens of Australia may apply.
