Pharmacokinetics of Metformin

Scholarship Description

A PhD scholarship is available from an ARC Linkage Grant for a highly motivated student to investigate the clinical pharmacokinetics of metformin in Type 2 diabetic patients. Metformin is a widely used drug to treat Type 2 diabetes, however there is insufficient evidence to support current guidelines in dosing metformin in patients with renal impairment. This research project will involve extensive use of population modelling programs to develop a decision-support tool to be used by clinicians.
